The 2010 East Cape Classic was another outstanding success. Thanks to the efforts of everyone involved, we raised another $10,000 for the people of Los Barilles, bringing the total amount we've raised to over $300,000 since the tournament began 23 years ago.

From the start it was an outstanding tournament, with 100 anglers fishing on 45 boats, catching and releasing a total of 227 billfish.

Although the tournament was another great success, there was also a note of sadness at the passing of our friend Bob Van Wormer. Bob had been a big supporter of the classic almost from its inception, and we will miss him.

TOURNAMENT RESULTS

1st Place Team/Top Team

Bo Nelson, Tucson, AZ and
Chip Plomteaux, Las Vegas, NV,
won both 1st Place Team and
the overall TOP TEAM title.

Fishing on the "Balihoo", they amassed a total of 4,773 points over the 3 days of fishing.

 

 

 

 

2nd Place Team

David Cummings, Tom Rhodes and Glen Gillespie, all from San Antonio, TX won 2nd place honors, fishing on the "Billfighter". (Sorry, no photos available.)

3rd Place Team

John Caldera, Upland, CA
and Marvin Karsten, Blythe, CA
were third place winners.

Fishing on "El Tio", they earned
a total of 3,072 points over the 3 days.
